CHRISM MASS

Chrism Mass at The Sacred Heart Cathedral in Knoxville

All members of the faith are strongly encouraged to attend this unifying celebration.

The Mass of Chrism is a sign of the unity and communion of the priests with their bishop and gathers the Diocesan Church to consecrate the three oils for use in each parish.

1. The Oil of the Sick for the healing of body, mind, and soul.
2. The Oil of Catechumens for those preparing for Baptism.
3. The Holy Chrism to anoint infants after Baptism, those to be confirmed, Bishops and Priests at their ordinations, and altars and churches at the time of their dedication.
