Members of St. Therese of Lisieux Knights of Columbus, Council 4572, recently presented a check to the Salvation Army Cleveland Corps during one of the biweekly social meetings. The funds had been raised during the K of C’s annual golf tournament and the Boston Butt Roast sales along with other donations. The Knights express their thanks and gratitude to all the supporting donors.
The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Their message is based on the Bible, their ministry is motivated by the love of God, and their mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ as they meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
The Salvation Army Cleveland Corps meets urgent care needs daily to individuals and families struggling to meet their basic needs. Daily showers are provided to their clients without homes Monday -Friday offering a place to warm up on a cool day and cool off and summer's heat. Hygiene items are provided daily to assist their friends to help them maintain the dignity that good hygiene preserves. In addition, they assist families and individual with help for utility bills, non-addictive prescription assistance, Alcohol and Drug addiction assessment and referral to residential treatment programs at no cost to the client, emergency food assistance, warming shelter for nights when temps are below freezing and other urgent needs that arise. They collaborate with other agencies to ensure that the spectrum of care needs are met with the most efficacy and that best suit client needs. In addition they provide hot weekend meals for their friends in need when other agencies are closed.
