Recently The Knights of Columbus, Council No: 4572 received a presentation from the LUDIC (Lee University Developmental Inclusion Classroom) Spectrum Center. The LUDIC Spectrum Center is a state approved private school for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ADS) and is partially funded by donations from the Knights of Columbus, Council #4572. LUDIC’s mission is to serve the community of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities by providing a quality education program and support for those affected, including families, preschools, daycare, and churches. It also provides Lee University students to observe and have hands-on experience in the program. LUDIC serves students on full-day, half-day, or part-time basis. The Knights of Columbus, Council No: 4572 supports the LUDIC Spectrum Center and many other organizations by raising funds through our annual golf tournament, our world famous Boston Butt Roast, and other charitable events of the Council.

The Knights of Columbus 2nd Annual Indoor Yard Sale is tentatively scheduled for June 27th thru June 29th. The Yard Sale will be held in the Gym inside the Parish Life Center. The Knights of Columbus are looking for a secure location to store some of the donated items prior to the sale. If you have a secure storage space that you are not using, please contact Grand Knight Brendan Foley at 423-544-8578. Additionally, as we approach the time of year for “Spring Cleaning”, we ask that you keep an eye out for items in good condition that you might be able to donate towards this worthy cause.
Items we are looking for include Clothing, Toys, Bikes, Furniture, Luggage, Electronics, Accessories, Kitchen & Housewares, Home and Garden & Holiday Decor, Sports Equipment, Tools, Camping & Outdoor Gear and Books. We cannot accept cribs, car seats, mattresses, computers or TVs.
Money raised goes to support local charities such as Foundation House, Life Bridges, New Hope Pregnancy Center, Disabled American Veterans, St Jude Hospital, The Caring Place, Boys and Girts Club, Ronald McDonald House, YCAP, and more. The Knights of Columbus Council 4572 gives out approximately $40,000 to charities every year and relies on your support.

Members of St. Therese of Lisieux Knights of Columbus, Council 4572, recently presented a check to Foundation House Ministries of Cleveland TN during one of the biweekly social meetings. Suzanne Burns, Founder & Executive Director stopped by Breen Hall to talk about Foundation House and to say thank you. Foundation House Ministries provides homes for women in crisis pregnancies and aid as much as they can: financially, physically, emotionally and most importantly spiritually. they know how crucial it is to have a strong, and stable support system when you’re expecting, so they do everything in their power to make sure you are in loving hands while you are here. In addition, Foundation House Ministries, rescues in crisis mothers by providing trauma informed care, emergency support, child care, crisis Intervention and by building trust. Foundation House also helps mothers rebuild their lives by providing individualized classes, transportation case management, court advocacy, GED prep and a Job training program. Foundation House continues helping mothers as they restore their future by providing reliable transportation, consistent childcare, stable housing, education goals, permanent employment and promoting healthy relationships. 95% of Foundation House clients graduate with stable housing and stable employment! Members of St. Therese of Lisieux Knights of Columbus, Council 4572, recently presented a check to Life Bridges of Cleveland TN during one of the biweekly social meetings. Diana Jackson, CEO of Life Bridges, along with her friend Shirley Morgan stopped by Breen Hall to say thank you. LIFE BRIDGES helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their best life. Life Bridges staff invests in the lives of the people supported by getting to know the individual; learning their interests and goals, and helping them find activities. Outings and activities focus on a variety of skill building and exploration activities; including volunteering, learning about jobs and focusing on pursuing interests. Activity-based teaching empowers people to attempt new things in non-threatening ways. It promotes new skills, and provides a means for them to delve deeper into their community. Life Bridges staff provides 24-hour residential services. These include individualized support such as enabling technology, assistance with daily personal hygiene, meal preparation, laundry, transportation, special dining plans, community activities, therapy plans, first aid, CPR, and medication administration. Life Bridges has four ICF/IID homes (Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities). Individuals supported by ICF/IID services are medically fragile and/or behaviorally challenged. Programming is tailored to the needs of the individual and is provided on a 24/7 basis. Medical Services practitioners provide care for acute and chronic issues, lab work, nurse treatments, assessments, and exams. Communication between departments is maintained daily. In addition, Life Bridges has 55 nurses who provide in-home nursing care to a total of 37 individuals residing in 9 locations where nursing services are required 24 hours a day. The nurses provide ongoing assistance and support to all individuals while working in these homes. A physical therapist provides assessments and treatment for functional limitations related to ambulation and other mobility-related needs to either improve or maintain current functional abilities and to prevent or minimize deterioration of chronic conditions. We oversee/provide equipment needs related to losses in mobility, such as braces, wheelchairs and other positioning equipment as well as providing staff training related to written therapy plans. Members of St. Therese of Lisieux Knights of Columbus, Council 4572, recently presented a check to the Salvation Army Cleveland Corps during one of the biweekly social meetings. The funds had been raised during the K of C’s annual golf tournament and the Boston Butt Roast sales along with other donations. The Knights express their thanks and gratitude to all the supporting donors. The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Their message is based on the Bible, their ministry is motivated by the love of God, and their mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ as they meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Salvation Army Cleveland Corps meets urgent care needs daily to individuals and families struggling to meet their basic needs. Daily showers are provided to their clients without homes Monday -Friday offering a place to warm up on a cool day and cool off and summer's heat. Hygiene items are provided daily to assist their friends to help them maintain the dignity that good hygiene preserves. In addition, they assist families and individual with help for utility bills, non-addictive prescription assistance, Alcohol and Drug addiction assessment and referral to residential treatment programs at no cost to the client, emergency food assistance, warming shelter for nights when temps are below freezing and other urgent needs that arise. They collaborate with other agencies to ensure that the spectrum of care needs are met with the most efficacy and that best suit client needs. In addition they provide hot weekend meals for their friends in need when other agencies are closed. Presenting the check is Grand Knight Brendan Foley and his brother Knights.
